The dishes will will be cooked and served under the guidance and critical eye of Celebrity Chef Marcus Bean when he launches the Pop-Up at Scholars during the Oswestry Food and Drink Festival, on Saturday 12 July.

Marcus Bean is taking the lead to ensure that each of the three courses will have locally sourced produce and everything will be handmade under his direction, including the petit-fours which will be served with coffee at the end of the meal. After a welcome glass of Prosecco, Marcus will be demonstrating the creation of canapés which will then be tasted by guests. There will be a pay bar and between courses Neil Jenkins from Twelve Green Bottles will be giving brief tutorials about the wines being served during the evening.

Produce from Moor Farm in Ruyton-XI-Towns and Moydens Cheeses in Market Drayton, will be used as part of the feast on offer, alongside salad and vegetables from the College’s own greenhouses at their Walford Campus.

Jo Darlington, Self-Help Africa’s Business Development Manager commented: “We are delighted that the Charity has been chosen to be supported by Marcus Bean and the College. We are looking forward to putting our own African touches to the evening.

“The students have really embraced the whole fundraising project and the response for donated local produce has been tremendous. We are looking forward to a very memorable evening for the guests and the students behind the scene. The money raised will help to support more African families to produce enough food to eat and make a living from their farming so that they can look forward to a better future.”

Dan Tompson, Chef Lecturer added, “Marcus Bean’s involvement with the students is giving them invaluable experience and the Launch of the Marcus Bean Pop-Up Restaurant at Scholars is an exciting development for both the College and students.”

The evening will start at 7pm and tickets are priced at just £35 each and can be purchased by calling the Oswestry Campus Reception on 01691 688000.
