The restaurant will be hosted at the student-led Scholars Restaurant at the Oswestry campus on Saturday 12 July from 7pm.
Guests will enjoy a glass of Prosecco upon arrival with the evening beginning with a canapé demonstration by Marcus, followed by the serving of a three-course meal.
Wine will be provided by new local company, Twelve Green Bottles, and can be purchased during the evening. There will be a brief tutoring about the wines between courses.
Besides the menu on offer on the night showcasing locally-sourced produce, the event will also raise funds for Self-Help Africa.
Speaking of the event Marcus said: “I am keen to showcase both the students and the Scholars restaurant. I love combining cooking with teaching as well as helping to further develop the students as they begin their journey into the catering industry.”
Hazel Wakefield, Business Projects Manager at WNSC explained, “With the Food and Drink Festival happening in Oswestry, the College was keen to participate in some way. We were therefore delighted when Marcus Bean, as Patron of our Hospitality and Catering Department, suggested that we could use the occasion to celebrate local produce and whilst supporting the development of the student’s knowledge and skill-set, launch the Marcus Bean Pop-Up Restaurant at Scholars. The evening will also help raise funds for a locally-based charity, Self-Help Africa that supports the development of more sustainable communities in Africa.”
The cost per head is £35, and with only 34 covers in the restaurant and much expected interest in the evening, early reservations are advised.
