Gas cylinders worth thousands stolen from Telford farm

The canisters were stolen from a farm yard in Wappenshall between 12.30 am and 9am on Monday, 16 July.

PC Lou Simmons from Wellington police station said: “A truck or lorry would certainly have been needed to remove such a large number of canisters and whoever has stolen them may be risking their safety and that of others if they are not carrying or storing the cylinders correctly.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have used the roads and lanes north of Telford in the early hours of Monday morning – such as delivery drivers or farm workers – and may have seen a vehicle carrying a number of gas bottles or parked directly outside a farm in the Wappenshall area.

“The gas canisters are worth over £100 each and are described as 47kg propane gas cylinders. They are orange with green coloured tops with ‘Energas’ written on them.

“I would also like to hear from any member of the public who is offered one of these cylinders from people going door-to-door, rather than an authorised seller, or anyone who knows of someone who may have recently taken delivery of a large number of canisters.”

Anyone with information about this incident can call PC Simmons on 0300 333 3000, quoting 54N 160712 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
