A cyclist has died following a collision involving a car near Ford last night.
The collision happened at about 5.35pm on the A458 on the Shrewsbury to Welshpool road and involved a grey Ridgback mountain bike and a silver Mini Countryman.
The cyclist, a 47-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Mini, a man in his thirties, was not injured.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found the cyclist, a man, at the roadside.
“He was in cardiac arrest and already receiving CPR from an off duty nurse and police.
“Ambulance staff took over and administered advanced life support but unfortunately it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred. Anyone with information should call West Mercia Police 101.
