Firefighters were last night called to a report that a hot air balloon had crash landed in a field at Cheswardine near Market Drayton.
The incident turned out to be a false alarm but with good intent. The balloon actually landed safely in a field off Marsh Lane at around 8.20pm.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent seven fire appliances including the Foam Pod and the Rescue Tender from Market Drayton, Tweedale and Wellington. An Operations officer was also in attendance along with an ambulance crew.
Crews left the scene at around 8.45pm.
