The cars were launched by North Shropshire Community First Responders at Chester Road Bowling Club in Whitchurch and will be used by its on-call volunteers to attend medical emergencies nearby while an emergency blue-light ambulance service vehicle is en-route.

‘North Shropshire Community First Responders’ is a registered charity run by volunteers who are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service to a nationally recognised standard in a number of assessments and basic lifesaving procedures. Their early intervention increases the patient’s chance of survival.

The scheme covers all areas of the north of the county including Whitchurch, Market Drayton, Wem and Shawbury.

Scheme co-ordinator Gerry Evans said: “Thank-you to everyone who donated and sponsored. Not only will we be using the response cars to attend incidents, but they will also help raise the profile of our charity. All donations to North Shropshire Community First Responders go on equipment that benefits our patients.”
