At 8.45pm, Police and Ambulance Services were called to the Ford Service Station on the A458 near Shrewsbury after reports of a number of children falling ill on a coach journey.

The coach was carrying 57 people, including 49 children aged between 14 and 17, from a church group in Birmingham. It was taking them back to a campsite in Newtown, Wales, where they had been staying.

The 13 children were treated at the scene by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service for the suspected effects of fume inhalation.

None of the children required hospital treatment, officers from West Mercia Police made alternative arrangements for all the adults and children to return to their campsite where accommodation is available.

The coach has been seized by police for examination and the Health and Safety Executive are being informed of the incident.
