The iconic car company asked young MINI fans across the country to design a ‘NOT NORMAL’ car and Jack’s Pirate Ship design hugely impressed the panel of judges. His work showed them how MINI’s can inspire creativity in car lovers, young and old.
The youthful artist’s school, Hinstock Primary, encouraged him and his classmates to enter after they joined forces with Rybrook Shrewsbury MINI to find budding design talent in the area.
Through the initiative with the school, the competition uncovered a host of young artists in the Shrewsbury area as both second and third places were awarded to Hattie Leslie-Miller, aged 10 from Oswestry and Jake Barber, aged 4 from Shrewsbury.
Jack’s design has won him and his family a once in a lifetime, four star inclusive, holiday to Lapland. The trip incudes a snowmobile trip, husky safari, reindeer sleigh ride, meet with Santa and if that wasn’t enough, £250 spending money courtesy of MINI UK.
Jack could barely contain his excitement when he heard the news: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard I had won, I ran around the house in excitement! I can’t wait to see my drawing on a real life MINI and to go to Lapland with my family to meet Father Christmas!”
Jack’s winning design will be brought to life for locals this weekend at the Shrewsbury MINI showroom, where the pirate ship design will be showcased on a real life MINI.
Kate Taylor from Rybrook Shrewsbury MINI said: “Working with the local schools to encourage the initiative was such a great way to get the local community involved. We were overwhelmed with the number of entries and the panel had a seriously hard task when trying to choose the winner. We absolutely loved Jack’s pirate design, it captured the essence of the nationwide NOT NORMAL campaign perfectly and really showed how fans of MINI are creatively inspired by the car. We are looking forward to seeing the finished piece of art this weekend.”
