Sara-Louise Wilson, Nursery Manager, at Greenfields Primary School said: “We are delighted that the enthusiasm, hard work and commitment of the children, staff and parents has once again been recognised across a range of categories in the competition. As always it has been both a pleasure and a privilege to be involved in helping to capture the imagination of our youngest children and witnessing their awe and wonder as they plant and care for their tiny seeds, eagerly anticipating what might happen next! This early fascination continues to be nurtured as the children progress through the school and for many, will hopefully lead to a life-long love of gardening and the many pleasures that this will bring.”
Di Chandler, Sheltered Officer at Edgefield Green said: “We are very proud to have won the community garden category, especially this year when the competition has been so strong. We are always trying to think what the judges are looking for and strive each year to make our displays bigger and better. Ultimately the gardens provide a lovely environment for our residents, and that’s the main thing.”
Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Jon Tandy, thanked everyone who entered the competition for their efforts.
He said: “All of you make such a difference to the whole community by creating these wonderful displays that we can all enjoy. So from myself, and on behalf of the town, I thank you all very much.”
