Shropshire’s first American Smokehouse is seeking teams of four – with mammoth appetites – for the ultimate foodie charity challenge.
Smoke Stop. the road to BBQ at Ford, near Shrewsbury, has developed an excellent reputation with diners travelling from far and wide to enjoy authentic tastes from across the pond in rural Shropshire.
Now they are launching Man versus Smoke Stop, an eating challenge for teams, to be held on the first Tuesday of every month, starting next Tuesday, March 1.
Teams of four will be set the challenge of eating four huge portions within 90 minutes – with a cash prize for the winners.
Sophie Gwilliam, manager of Smoke Stop, said: “There’s four dishes, four challenges, which a member of each team will take on at the same time as their other competitors.
“There’s a Hot Dog Challenge, a new Burger Challenge, the King of the Wings, which is 15 wings you have to eat as fast as you can, and we’ve also got the Nacho Challenge.
“There will be tables for four and once the food is brought out, teams will have 90 minutes to complete the challenge after deciding which team member is best equipped to tackle each dish.
“They are very generous portions, but we think it can be done. If they don’t complete the challenges, the winners will be decided by the weight of the combined left over food.”
The winning team will receive a cash prize, t-shirts and their picture will take pride of place in Smoke Stop’s prestigious Hall of Fame.
Teams, both men and women, are invited to sign up for the challenge at a cost of £25 per person, with 20 per cent of the entry fees being donated by Smoke Stop to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sophie added: “We’ve already had plenty of interest from all over Shropshire from teams keen to take part. It’s all about adding that fun element to people’s nights out and we’re also pleased to be supporting a charity, which is important.”
“People are interested in challenges throughout life and we think combining the four challenges we have at Smoke Stop into a team effort will be a lot of fun. They promise to be really enjoyable nights.”
The first challenge night on March 1 starts at 7.30pm. To enter a team call (01743) 851944 or email sophie@smokestopbbq.co.uk
