Staff evacuated after Fire at Shrewsbury storage tank firm

Shropshire Fire and rescue were called to Lancaster Road, after reports of a fire on Harlescott Industrial Estate at around 2.45pm.

8 fire appliances attended including the Environmental Protection Unit and the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Baschurch, Prees, Shrewsbury, Tweedale, Wellington and Wem. Operations, Hazmat and Safety officers were in attendance.

The fire broke out in the winding room of SPEL Products, a business that has been established for over 50 years.

Crews used Breathing Apparatus and Hosereel jet to tackle the fire.
