Police today have appealed for witnesses following a fire at a house on Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, Telford, this morning.
It is believed the fire, which is currently being treated as suspicious, started between 3.30am and 3.54am.
Three men and a woman escaped from the property, all of whom were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. One of the men and the woman were taken to hospital with injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.
Substantial damage has been caused to the property where the fire started and there was also damage to neighbouring properties.
Detective Inspector Jason Everett said: “This was an extremely serious fire that could easily have had more tragic consequences. At this time, we are keeping an open mind about the cause of the fire and it is being treated as suspicious.
“We’re keen to speak to people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Hurleybrook way in the early hours of this morning or anyone else who has information that could help with our investigation.
“We would like to reassure the local community that we will be having increased patrols in the area following this incident.”
