Potential providers show interest in delivering GP services in Whitchurch

Shropshire CCG says it has received a good level of interest from potential providers looking to deliver GP services in Whitchurch.

The CCG invited potential providers from across the region to deliver a service that will meet the requirements of patients living in Whitchurch. The contract is for a caretaker service and will be offered on an initial 18 month basis.

The decision to seek expressions of interest follows the announcement that GPs at Richmond House will no longer provide services after 31 October 2016.

Christine Morris, Director for Primary Care & Quality at Shropshire CCG said:

“We are pleased with the level of interest shown from potential providers. Our aim now is to ensure we find a provider who has the necessary experience, capacity and qualifications to provide excellent GP services for the local population. The CCG is now going through a procurement process to appoint a suitable provider. We hope to announce the successfully shortlisted provider in October.

“We want to reassure patients currently registered with Richmond House that they will still have access to a GP after the surgery closes. We will also continue to work with local Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) to ensure that patients are kept up to date with developments.”
