Witness appeal following Sunday’s serious collision near Dorrington

Police officers are appealing for witnesses or information following a head-on collision on the A49 near Dorrington on Sunday.

The collision happened shortly before 6:30pm on Sunday when a grey Land Rover Freelander travelling on the A49 northbound and a red Leyland DAF box van travelling in the opposite direction were involved in a head-on collision.

The incident occurred where the road passes over the railway approximately half a mile south of Dorrington.

The driver of the Freelander, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with multiple injuries to his back and abdomen.

The passenger in the Freelander was also taken to hospital after sustaining injuries to her legs and abdomen.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information they feel may be relevant. Please call 101 quoting incident number 620s of Sunday 7 August.
