Donations totalling £4,000 will be made by Shawbury and Mid Shropshire Rotary to a number of worthy local causes following their recent successful Santa sleigh programme.
In addition, the Rotary club is giving a total of £5,400 to the charities benefiting from their latest Tree of Light.
Amongst the recipients of monies from the Santa sleigh will be the Grange Primary School; Riding for the Disabled; Crucial Crew; Shropshire Blood Trust; a ShelterBox for an overseas emergency.
Shawbury and Mid Shropshire President Kerry Ferguson said: “Every year that we raise funds for charity from our popular Santa sleigh we always want our kind donors to know that their money is mostly being spent locally.
“Apart from our ShelterBox, all the funds from the Santa sleigh are being ploughed back into worthy local causes.”
Shawbury and Mid Shropshire Rotary will also be providing work parties to clear Shawbury Church’s churchyard in the spring which will be arranged with the vicar.
