Clothing store staff member threatened with knife by shoplifter in Shrewsbury

A member of staff at a clothing store in Shrewsbury town centre was threatened with a knife by a shoplifter on Thursday.

The incident occurred at around 4pm when the offender stole items of clothing from the Blacks Store on Shoplatch and was pursued by a member of a staff.

The offender turned left onto Claremont Street where he got onto a black mountain bike and cycled away onto Bellstone. When the staff member caught up with him he threatened him with a knife, before cycling away.

The offender is described as a white male, aged late 20’s to early 30’s, around 5″1, of slim build. He has short cut fair hair and some ‘scruffy’ facial hair. He was also described as having ‘gaunt’ facial features. He was wearing a black jacket with a hood attached.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 334 of 27 August.
