Firefighters tackle fire in the open at Snailbeach

Firefighters this morning tackled a fire in the open at the Stiperstones, Snailbeach.

Four fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit and the Pinzgauer were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Minsterley at just after 9am.

An Operations officer was also in attendance.

Crews used knapsacks and shovels along with forks and brooms to dampen down and dig out the deep seated fire.

Yesterday, firefighters from Minsterley tackled a blaze of around 1000 square metres of gorse at the Crowsnest, Snailbeach. Crews were called to the location at just after 4pm, they used beaters and hosereel jets to extinguish the fire.
