Two large Shropshire field fires treated as suspicious

Firefighters were called to the first fire involving two large corn fields in Cross Houses yesterday afternoon.

Eight appliances from Shrewsbury, Bashcurch, Much Wenlock, Telford and Wellington were mobilised to the scene at Lower Cross. Firefighters used two main jets supplied by a hydrant and two hose reel jets with water supplied by a bowser.

The second field fire occurred off Pulley Lane in Meole Brace just after 5.30pm. The fire involved around 200 square meters of field stubble. Firefighters from Shrewsbury used three hose reel Jets, one covering jet and beaters to put out the fire.
