The collision happened on the A529 in the village of Adderley at around 6.40pm on Saturday. No other vehicle was involved.
The motorcyclist has not yet been formally identified but is thought to be a 50-year-old man from Cheshire.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: “We are conducting an investigation into the circumstances and appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or who may have spotted the rider just before the crash, to contact Market Drayton police station by calling 101.
“The rider was travelling on a black Yamaha FZR 989cc motorcycle in company with another rider who was on a black and yellow Yamaha. They were riding north on the A529 and as they came into Adderley, the lead bike left the road on a left-hand bend.
“Passers-by administered first-aid and conducted CPR and an off-duty nurse also brought a defibrillator to the scene prior to the arrival of the ambulance, but unfortunately the rider could not be saved.”
A post mortem is expected to be held later this week and an inquest opened in due course.
