Ali Thomas and Katy Anderson of Transition Town Shrewsbury came up with the idea for a ‘cardboard café’ day in response to residents being unable recycle card in their green waste bins.

Between 9am – 2pm on Saturday around 630 vehicles dropped of cardboard at the Red Barn Pub, in Longden Road, almost 200 vehicles dropped in at the Riversway Elim Church on Lancaster Road and the same amount at the United Reform Church, in Abbey Foregate.

Transition Town Shrewsbury and cardboard merchants Pink Skips joined forces with local waste enterprises Cwm Harry, Cae Post and Reviive to organise the project, which raised funds for Severn Hospice and Hope House.
