Simon Charles Brown, aged 31, of no fixed abode but from the Bomere Heath area, near Shrewsbury, appeared at Hereford Magistrates’ Court this morning and was remanded into custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on 20 February.
The charges relate to a road traffic collision on the A49 near Holmer, Hereford, on Friday, when a collision occurred between a blue Honda Civic car and a white Mercedes tanker lorry.
No one was injured, but Brown is accused of deliberately driving the Honda into the path of the oncoming HGV, which was driving in the opposite direction.
Detective Inspector Jon Roberts said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision on Friday evening to come forward. It was the rush hour and as such the A49 was very busy – following the crash, there was temporarily a large queue of traffic.
“Some of the cars would have seen the collision but many of them did not stop and give their details to the police, probably because this would have appeared to them to be a minor collision.
“However, if you did see the incident, please contact West Mercia Police straight away.”
DI Roberts can be contacted via the West Mercia Police non-emergency line, 0300 333 3000, or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
