Family Pay Tribute To Man Who Died In Collision

Mr Stonebanks, aged 50, of Upton Magna was killed when his Nissan Micra car was involved in a collision with an ambulance on the A458 near Crosshouses on Saturday.

He leaves his wife Fiona and their two children Imogen (11) and Emilia (9).

A family spokesperson today described him as a loving father and devoted husband. “Fiona and Keith had been married for 20 years and the family are devastated by his loss. He will be deeply missed.”

Mr Stonebanks was a software developer who ran his own business.

He was a governor at St Lucia Primary School in Upton Magna who have also paid tribute to his contribution to the school.

Acting head teacher Mr Tom Brookes said yesterday Mr Stonebanks had been a dedicated parent governor for several years. “Keith fully immersed himself in the life of the school, running after-school clubs, building the school website and recording school productions. He was dedicated to providing our pupils with exciting learning opportunities.”

Police are continuing to investigate the collision and today renewed the appeal for witnesses.

Police Constable Paul Bosley, the investigating officer said it happened on the A458 at the Burntree crossroads at around 10.45am on Saturday. It’s believed Mr Stonebanks had travelled along an unclassified road from the direction of Condover towards the main road and the ambulance was travelling along the A458 towards Shrewsbury from the Much Wenlock direction.

He said: “It is vital anyone who has any information which might help the police investigation, however insignificant it may seem, should contact me at Shrewsbury police station on 0300-333-3000 as a matter of urgency.”

An inquest was due to be opened today by the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr John Ellery.
