A Shropshire community group is urging local residents to boost their funds to help needy causes by clicking online for their Christmas shopping.

Members of Ironbridge and Severn Gorge Lions are already signed up to web portal www.giveasyoulive.com, which donates money to a nominated charity every time it is used. Now the Lions are urging others to do the same.
John Marsh, President of Ironbridge Lions, said: “The concept is simple. Every time make an online purchase using this portal instead of, for example, Google, you generate money for your nominated charity. And the beauty of it is that it doesn’t cost you, personally, a penny!”
Since signing up last year Lions member, Colin Thompson, has raised more than £75 for the club’s charity account. He said today: “This is such a great way to support charitable causes at a time when money is tight for everyone.
“Ironbridge Lions is long established, well-known and trusted in the Telford area and people who nominate the club to receive donations through this web portal will know that every penny we receive is then spent on helping those in need, whether they are an individual, a family, or a local registered charity. So we are asking others to sign up now or contact us on www.facebook.com/ironlions if they need more information.”
