Alan Johnstone had popped into Ironbridge for breakfast after visiting a property he rents out in Lawley. As he strolled over the bridge and saw members of Ironbridge Lions engaged in one of their regular summer ‘Silver over the Bridge’ collections he remembered his promise to make a donation to charity after selling his motorbike knee guards on ebay.
Lion June Softley said: “After putting down several pound coins on the tape, this very kind gentleman said he had stated on his ebay ad that he would give a percentage of the selling price to charity. When he saw we were collecting for Air Ambulance and other Lions charities he took the opportunity to fulfil his promise.”
“I am sure I got a higher bid on ebay because I had stated that I would donate some of the sale proceeds to charity,” said Mr Johnstone, who lives in Penkridge, and I would urge others to do the same. Lions do such good work, especially in the local community, and that together with the fact that some of the money collected this Sunday was going to Air Ambulance made them the ideal recipient for my donation.”
