Dandylion checks out a coracle ready for the 2014 regatta.

Organisers are anticipating a bumper turnout, with coraclers coming from all over the country. And they say record numbers of charities and traders have booked stall space for this year’s event which is set to place at Ironbridge Rowing Club, Buildwas Road, Coalbrookdale on Bank Holiday Monday.

A total of 44 stalls are expected to set out well before the first coracle race begins at midday on August 24th. Among them will be traders selling jewellery, handbags, books, cards, children’s clothes and many other things. In addition, a number of charities have booked space, including Ironbridge Lions, Severn Hospice, Help for Heroes, Clic Sargent and Troop Aid.

Entry to the event is completely free for spectators and there will be plenty for all the family to do, with face-painting, a bouncy castle and games and toys galore for the children. Refreshments will also be plentiful with a West Indian food stall and ice cream man on the field and a BBQ outside the rowing club serving bacon baps, tea, coffee and cold drinks.

For those travelling by car with sat navs, the postcode for the event is TF8 7BJ. All day parking will be available for a small charge in the charity car park on the football field above the rowing club.
