National Carers Week takes place next month and the highlight for Shropshire carers will be a ‘Strictly Afternoon Tea’ to be held in Shrewsbury, where people can enjoy dancing to live music and enjoy a traditional afternoon tea.
The event is being organised by Shropshire RCC Carers Support Service at Mereside Community Centre between 1.30 and 4pm on Saturday 6 June.
Diane Cuff of Shropshire RCC said: “There will lots of family entertainment and stalls, together with a dancing demonstration by members of Shrewsbury Scottish Dancers when people are welcome to join in and have a go.
“Carers from across the county and children under five can attend for free and there will be a nominal £5 charge for guests, so everyone is most welcome to come along and enjoy themselves.”
Shirley Sim, chairperson of the dancing group added: “We are delighted to support Shropshire RCC during in this special week and to help them celebrate the fantastic work that family carers do across the county and we will be looking forward to what promises to be a fun afternoon and getting people to join us on the dance floor.”
Further information and bookings to attend can be made to the RCC Carers Support Service on 01743 341995.
