Members of a junior football team in Telford can now train in comfort thanks to the generosity of a self-storage company.
The Space Place in Stafford Park has sponsored the newly-formed team, NC Whites, based in Telford by donating a set of team tracksuits, meaning youngsters no longer have to get cold while training or travelling to games.
NC Whites are the Under-10s group of N C United, established in 2015 by Mark Neate and Scott Marshell to give children the opportunity to get active in sport.
Ian Freeman, manager of The Space Place self-storage unit in Stafford Park, said it was great to see the team wearing the tracksuits.
“We are really keen at The Space Place to get involved with the community, so we jumped at the chance of helping out when we heard the NC Whites team needed some support,” he said.
“We heard about their need for new tracksuits through the Telford Chamber of Commerce networking group, when one of the player’s mums, Lisa Morris-Jones from PCB Solicitors, told us about them, so it’s a great example of how networking can have unexpected knock-on benefits.
“The tracksuits look really smart and we’re proud to see The Space Place logo emblazoned on the back – good luck to the team for the rest of the season.”
Stephen Pitt, of the NC Whites, said everyone was delighted with the new tracksuits.
“We started the club to give young people in Telford the chance to improve their fitness and get all the benefits that playing in a team brings,” he said.
“The club is run by volunteers and it makes all the difference when businesses give us some financial support because it allows us to buy equipment which we simply could not afford otherwise.
“The tracksuits are fantastic, not only to keep the players warm during training, but it gives the team a really professional look when they turn up for matches which is important.
“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at The Space Place for their support and the team will do their very best to do them proud this season.”
