A team of intrepid walkers from the Shrewsbury and Telford branches of RBS bank will be tackling Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales next month, to raise money for charity – and the charity’s chief executive herself will be donning her anorak and boots to join them!
Shrewsbury-based Shropshire Rural Communities Charity has been chosen by RBS bank to benefit from its fundraising activities this year and the staff from both branches hope to raise over £2,000 in sponsorship by scaling the 3,560ft high peak.
Shropshire RCC chief executive, Julia Baron, commented: “As a keen walker myself, I am absolutely thrilled be joining this adventure and to be working closely with the bank this year.
“As organisations, we are both committed to giving people across Shropshire the very best service to make our county a great place to live, no matter what challenges are faced, and we will be able to help each other meet this aspiration.”
Senior relationship manager for RBS, Martyn Cosgrove, added: “As a bank we are committed to supporting the wider community and our fundraising efforts this year for Shropshire RCC clearly reflects that.
“The enthusiasm of staff for fundraising, especially with such an adventurous challenge as this one, should also create a great sense of achievement within the branches.
“We will also be holding coffee mornings in our branches, encouraging people to drop off unwanted foreign coins and used stamps, and our staff will be carrying out volunteer work at RCC projects and events throughout the year.”
