Shrewsbury’s Topshop store in the Darwin Shopping Centre will close from this Sunday, July 28, to Wednesday, August 19, when they plan a major event to mark the reopening.
Tami Smith, Brand Manager of Topshop which employs 15 staff at the Darwin Centre, said: “Work on our refit starts this month and we will be closing but we’re very excited about the major modification to the store.
“As well as underlining the company’s commitment to the Darwin Centre and to Shrewsbury, it will also mean that the new store will have a whole new look and will be able to stock a far greater range of products.
“We’re already planning the reopening which will feature competitions, special offers and a DJ.”
Kevin Lockwood, Manager of the Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres, said: “Topshop are to undergo a complete refurbishment of the store here in the Darwin Centre and that’s important as they are a longstanding tenant and a major high street retailer.
“They have been at the Centre for many years and their continued presence is a boost to the local economy and emphasises Shrewsbury’s credentials as an important retail centre.”
Primark recently announced plans to open a new store at the shopping centre and Kevin Lockwood added: “That’s an extremely important signing for us and one that is sure to generate plenty of interest from other prospective tenants.
“The Shrewsbury Shopping Centres are an important retail hub with a vibrant mix of big high street names and smaller independent businesses.
“They employ over 1500 staff and have an annual footfall of over 10 million shoppers who spend over half a billion pounds a year here.”
