Show season has begun for a Shropshire surveyors firm – and it was kicked off in style as new members of the team were on the ground to welcome thousands of visitors to the 2015 Newport event.
The 106th Newport Show is believed to have broken visitor number records after the rain stayed away on July 11.
And among the stands with staff enjoying the day were the Madeleys Chartered Surveyors team.
The Much Wenlock-based firm has welcomed Charis Denham and Alasdair Barne to the team over the past few months and both attended the show to meet and greet the agricultural community.
Paul Madeley, founder and director of Madeleys, said: “It was our second year at the event and the Newport and District Agricultural Society once again put on a great show with the Chetwynd Deer Park filled with thousands of visitors throughout the day.
“It was great for me to take the new members of the team to our first show of the season since their arrival and we were pleased to welcome clients, old and new, to the stand.
“We hope to return to the show next year.”
Charis, a qualified member Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), previously spent 12 years working for a Shropshire and Mid Wales firm of Chartered Surveyors, becoming Senior Associate in 2013.
Charis is actively involved with a broad range of professional work, which includes planning matters, valuation, Basic Payment Scheme and entitlement sales, landlord and tenant matters, and commercial and residential property.
Alasdair, also a qualified member Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), moved to Shropshire in September 2009 and started working for a regional rural surveying company assisting with the general estate management on a number of rural estates located in Shropshire and North Lincolnshire.
In December 2012, Alasdair joined a Shropshire based renewable energy company specialising in the development of micro hydroelectric schemes. He provides advice in a broad range of rural professional work.
They join Tom Bayliss, who moved back to Shropshire after working in Lincolnshire on estate management for the Tollemache family. He started at Madeleys as a trainee rural surveyor in February this year.
This year’s Newport Show featured motorcycle stunts, vintage tractors, horticulture, craft, a school’s marquee, a dog show and a horse and livestock competition.
There was also a wide range of regional delicacies available and cookery displays by TV chef Paul Rankin, who entertained the crowds with two cookery demonstrations in the food court.
