A home care company in Shrewsbury is celebrating it’s first birthday with a charity event inspired by one of their clients.
Caring Angels, based in Harlescott, will have a bingo and raffle in aid of Help for Heroes to mark when the business was launched on May 5.
Staff chose Help for Heroes because a male client said the charity means a lot to him and owner Becky Morris has lost six friends in conflict and a further two friends have lost limbs.
She said: “It has been a fantastic first year in business for us and we didn’t want the occasion to go by unmarked.
“We have secured Care Quality Commission registration, increased the services we are able to offer, grown our client base and taken on seven members of staff.
“It really has been great and we have loved every minute of it but we wanted to use the day to give something back as well.
“Help for Heroes is a charity that not only means a lot to us but also to a lot of our clients so I am eager to make a difference.”
The party will be held at Lindale Court sheltered housing on May 5 it is hoped £500 will be raised.
It is open to all the community but those who want to enjoy a lunch of cold meat, new potatoes, salad and cakes need to book.
There will be stalls, games and Help for Heroes items for sale.
The care company offers services like housework, taking people shopping and to appointments as well as respite and personal care such as companionship, medication support, end of life care, support with day center and wellbeing pop in visits.
Miss Morris added: “Our first anniversary is a great milestone but it is only the start for us – we look forward to many more successful years to come with more staff and more clients to help with whatever needs they have.”
