Free employment law training for Shropshire managers

Caradoc Medical Services will host the events at its conference rooms on Longslow Business Park, off Harlescott Lane in Shrewsbury on Thursday October 2 and Wednesday October 15.

The sessions will cover all recent updates to employment law, with the first having some additional emphasis on recruitment and selection processes, terms and conditions and contracts.

The second event will also cover performance management and staff exit strategies.

A third training session on Thursday November 13 will have an emphasis on all subject matters from the previous two events.

Peter Masters, business manager for Caradoc Medical Services, said the sessions were completely free and were open to managers from all professions.

“Although some of the examples given in the training will be from a health standpoint, the legislation being covered applies to all industries,” he said.

“The first session next week will have an emphasis on recruitment and selection while the second one on October 15 will have some focus on performance management, although both will cover all aspects of recent employment law changes.”

Mr Masters said that when Caradoc Medical Services was first set up more than five years ago as a sister company to Shropdoc, Shropshire’s out of hours GP service, it was a not-for-profit buying consortium to save county surgeries money, while also providing cost effective training for the county’s healthcare staff.

“Since then, not only has the organisation grown to become a national, free to join buying consortium with more than 30,000 members, but the training provision has also been extended to cover all types of businesses,” he added.

“And with no cost to businesses or organisations beyond the time of their staff attending, their managers will only gain by taking part.”

Both sessions will run from 10.30am until 3pm and lunch is included.

Employment law training is just one of several sessions offered by Caradoc Medical Services, with fire warden training and CPR also part of the annual training schedule.
