The eating place within Alan Ward’s furniture showrooms at Ennerdale Road, Shrewsbury, has proved so popular with customers as well as the general public, that it has expanded and been given a makeover.
The Coffee Shop was opened at the store after bosses realised the need to provide somewhere for its customers to take a well-earned break whilst shopping.
Kathy Lesser, Alan Ward marketing manager, said: “We are always looking at ways that we can improve the experiences of our customers at our store.
“For some of our customers a visit to our store is not a quick thing. They often spend hours looking around and then making important decisions about how they want to furnish their home.
“Having the coffee shop on-site means they don’t have to go away if they get hungry but can stay around and take advantage of the delicious homemade meals and snacks on offer.
“They can relax in comfortable and elegant surroundings and not worry that they have to rush their decisions.”
Miss Lesser said: “We knew opening the cafe on the first floor was a good move but did not realise how popular it would be.
“Now its reputation is growing and we are not only getting our customers using it but members of the public.
“The coffee shop is an ideal meeting place for them, especially when it is child friendly and has free parking, which means they do not have to drive into town. Our homemade cakes and quiches are also very popular and people travel miles to enjoy the homemade scones.”
Gemma Talbot, who runs the cafe, said: “We are getting more and more customers every day and the changes have been very well received by everyone.”
