Twelve burglaries in the area have been reported to police since the beginning of 2015 – ten of which were ‘sneak in’ burglaries. Eight occurred in Hadley and the other two in Leegomery.
In the ten instances, the properties were occupied by homeowners at the time and the offenders gained entry through insecure doors.
A wide range of belongings were stolen in the burglaries including jewellery, purses, designer luggage, mobile phones, game consoles and tablets – most of which were on show in the properties.
Detective Sergeant Jonathan Taylor, of Proactive CID in Telford, said:
“Our message to the public is to keep all doors and windows locked when they are unattended. Ensure they are locked before going to bed at night and also in the morning after letting your pets outside.
“We do not want to panic the public but urging them to be vigilant, as this is a repetitive theme and the offenders are taking full advantage.
“Common items that have been stolen are handbags, purses and mobile phones, along with smaller items of value that can easily be placed in the offender’s pockets or within a small bag. I would urge members of the public not to have such items on display in their kitchens. Most, if not all, of the entries gained are via insecure rear doors.”
Anyone with information on the burglaries or who sees suspicious activity in the area, is asked to call 101 and request to speak to DS 3700 Taylor or PS 843 Locke.
