Shires Fire and Safety on Stafford Park in Telford has teamed up with the Wellington Amateur Harriers Under 12 team to buy their new kit, worth £500.

Barry Mould, Shires Fire and Safety managing director, said it is important for the company to give back to the communities it serves.

He said: “We take our community social responsibility very seriously. We like to make sure we are investing back into the local community that supports us.

“We want to work with the youth of the community to give them something that’s more aspirational to do and offers them something constructive to do with their time.

“The Wellington Amateurs Harriers are a great team and we’re proud to sponsor them.”

Mr Mould is extra pleased to support the team, which plays in the Telford Youth Junior Football League under 12 C, as his grandson Josh Mould is a defender.

He said: “I know how valuable community sports such as this are because my grandson gets so much enjoyment from it. It teaches him about being part of a team, keeps him active and teaches him new skills.”

Coach Gavin Newbrook from the Wellington Amateur Harriers said the new kit has really installed the youngsters with confidence.
He said: “They won their first two friendly games and one was against a team in a higher league.

“The kit really seems to have installed a new sense of confidence and belief in themselves with the fact they are playing in a kit that makes them look and feel like a football team.”

Mr Newbrook, who took over as coach halfway through last season, said the boys were very excited about the new kit as they had chosen it themselves.

“The new kit is fantastic. The Amateurs are black and red and then we have the Shires logo in the middle of the shirt.

“Shires also provided some training balls and a match ball, which is great.”
