WiRE which has 8,000 rural businesses on its database, nearly half of those are in the West Midlands region will have a WiRE marquee at this year’s show. The stands will comprise a collection of small independent businesses including some brand new launches such as Vintage Thyme who offer an eclectic mix of new and vintage products such as unique hampers filled with vintage china.
Unlike retail premises that can cost thousands of pounds a year, a stand in the WiRE marquee start from under £100 and with more than 12,000 visitors expected, the footfall is significantly higher than some rural businesses could ever expect to see through their door in a year.
And it seems entrepreneurial women agree with stand having sold out in record time.
Fiona Davies from WiRE said: “Exhibiting in the WiRE marquee is hugely cost effective as the rates charged are purely to cover the costs. As an organisation that’s been dedicated to helping women start and grow their own ventures for over a decade, our motivation remains the same, to help women make a viable and successful career out of running their own business.â€
She added: “Many businesses can’t afford retail premises or simply prefer to run their ventures online, participating in events such as the Newport Show gives them a real chance to interact with the buying public. As well as being a great route to market, there are several other advantages including increased brand awareness and the ability to test out new products.â€
