60-year-old assaulted in Weston Rhyn

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a car which drove past, which allegedly caused the two offenders to make off.

As he reached into his pocket, the other male struck him on the back of the neck, knocking him to the ground.

The offenders quickly made off when a vehicle is thought to have driven along the road.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the incident, in particular the driver or other occupants of the car that drove past, who may have seen the offenders making off.

The victim suffered grazing to his cheek, nose and chin but was not seriously injured and did not need hospital treatment.

Both offenders were white and one was about 5ft 6in in height. The other was taller, about 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in and of stocky build, wearing a light-coloured, parker-style jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
