Care staff at a company in Telford and Shrewsbury have been handed awards for their dedication and hard work.

Carewatch (Mid Shropshire), based at Stafford Park, Telford, has handed out the honours after customers voted for their favourite staff.

Stephanie Bodkin, HR clerk at Carewatch, said it was a good way to recognise their staff for all the effort they put in.

She said: “For the first time this year we introduced a new award which went to someone with good feedback, the Achievement of Excellence Award.

“The finalists were all listed on Facebook and customers voted for their favourite.

“As well as the other annual awards we wanted to introduce one which had a direct link to our customers and give them a say in who would win it.

“Everyone has been in suspense and we’re very proud to be giving out awards.”

Ruth Brown was handed the Achievement of Excellence Award in a ceremony on Thursday (July 30).

The 35-year-old from Wombourne was given the award for her dedication to customers who nominated her for being “such a wonderful carer who is caring and such a professional and brilliant at what she does”.

Wendy Leese, 39 of The Rock, Telford, was named carer of the quarter and given the Rising Star award.

Amanda Cross, 29 of Hadley, was named Best Newcomer having joined the firm in April and Rona Mante was handed a long service award for five years of working there.

Each employee who has recently gained a diploma in care work was also given a certificate to mark their achievement, along with Samantha Duggins, 23 of Trench, who works in the office as finance clerk who has gained her level 3 diploma in business administration.

Steve Harris, managing director of the firm, said: “It is great to be able to award our staff and make sure they get the recognition they deserve.

“Care work is a rewarding job as you help those who need it.

“They appreciate the fact your help means they can continue to live in their own home, but too often companies forget to say well done so we make it a priority.
“Since we branched out into Shrewsbury earlier this year we have ensured all our staff are one team and work together, this is a big part of that.”

Since expanding into Shrewsbury the award winning care company has safeguarded 10 jobs and created dozens more.

Mr Harris is still searching for extra staff to help provide the best service possible for his new customers.
