A wide reaching county organisation will benefit after being selected as the chosen charity of a bank’s Shropshire branches.

Shropshire Rural Community Council, based in the Creative Quarter of Shrewsbury Business Park offers support to 3,500 individual family carers, helps over 200 people get to work through the loan of a bike or moped and delivers projects and services to communities and residents across the county. This year the charity will be supported in its fundraising efforts by RBS.

Senior relationship manager for RBS, Martyn Cosgrove, said: “As a bank we are committed to supporting the wider community and our collaboration with Shropshire RCC reflects this.

“We are therefore delighted to be adding our support to such a worthwhile organisation as Shropshire RCC and staff at our Shrewsbury and Telford branches have several ideas and events already lined up for the year, including a sponsored trek up Snowdon, to help raise valuable funds.

“We will also be holding coffee mornings in our branches, encouraging people to drop off unwanted foreign coins and used stamps, and our staff will be carrying out volunteer work at RCC projects and events over the year, as well as actually taking part in the hugely popular Great Shropshire Bake-Off on 27 September.”

Shropshire RCC chief executive, Julia Baron, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working closely with the bank this year. As organisations, we are both committed to giving people across Shropshire the very best service to make our county a great place to live, no matter what challenges are faced, and we will be able to help each other meet this aspiration.”
