Runners say Shrewsbury Half Marathon was half a mile short

Runners who took part in yesterday’s Shrewsbury Half Marathon say the course was half a mile short.

Participants who tracked their progress using a range of mobile apps said final distance was 12.6 miles less than the 13.1 miles of a half marathon.

Around 1,500 runners took part in the event which saw them leave the Greenhouse West Mid Showground and making their way around Shrewsbury town centre and into the countryside before heading back to the showground for the finish line.

Organiser, Dave Jones said he was looking into the reports but understood the course was the correct distance.
