Homes evacuated in Ford following gas leak

A number of homes in Ford near Shrewsbury have been evacuated following a gas leak this afternoon.

Residents in Quail Ridge were asked to leave their homes and an exclusion zone set up at around 3pm today.

Crews from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, and West Mercia Police officers are at the scene.

The gas is understood to be leaking from a faulty pressure vent in an underground liquid propane tank.

Engineers are at the scene working to fix the leak.
