A specialist animal rescue team last night released a horse after he ran into a slurry lagoon on a farm in Shrawardine.

The team from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and a vet from Fyrnwy Equine Clinic attended the incident at just after 8pm last night.

They spent two hours releasing Charlie the horse using an inflatable path to work around him. Specialist strops were used with an arm loader attached to a tractor to help rescue him from the deep pit.
