The incident happened at around 2.25pm yesterday in Trehowell Lane on the outskirts of the village.
Police Constable Jim Nicholson, the investigating officer, said the 69-year-old woman was walking along the country lane near its junction with Trehowell Avenue when a young man in a small silver VW car pulled up next to her and engaged in conversation.
“While she was speaking to the man, he exposed himself before driving off towards Weston Rhyn.”
PC Nicholson added: “Anyone who was in the area at the time who might have seen this car or indeed, its driver speaking to the woman, is asked to contact Oswestry police station on 101.
“Information concerning the possible identity of the offender can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, or via the website www.crimestoppers-uk.org .”
The car driver was described as white, aged about 20 and had short dark hair.
