Man injured after car ends up in field near Longville


Emergency services were called to reports of a car which had gone through a fence and into a field near to Lutwyche Hall shortly before 4pm.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was trapped inside the vehicle after the car had rolled over several times before coming to rest in the field.

He was cut free from the vehicle by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service personnel using holmatro cutting equipment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

“Upon assessment, ambulance crews found the man had suffered a head injury but no other obvious injuries. Crews worked with the fire service at the scene to carefully extricate him from vehicle and, due to the nature of the collision, they immobilised him with a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution.

“The man was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
