The pupils at Prestfelde School on London Road tried writing with a pewter pen and ink, listening to Tudor music and eating with utensils as used in the Middle Ages.
They also saw replica armoury and weapons of the day, such as longbows, as well as coins and other everyday objects, giving the pupils an authentic feel of life in England hundreds of years ago.
Mike Haswell, head of history at Prestfelde, said that the activities helped to bring the subject alive.
“The medieval day was a really informative and enjoyable way of teaching our pupils about this important period in our county’s history,” he said.
“A re-enactment group arrived and really got the girls and boys involved and we encouraged everyone to dress in costume.
“The event even included a little medieval surgery, by recreating the arrow extraction as done on Henry V when he was a young man at the Battle of Shrewsbury so we had some local interest as well,” Mike added.
