The annual awareness campaign is dedicated to recognising quality care, and the skilled and committed individuals working across the industry.
“Britain depends on its care workers, in both the voluntary and professional sectors,” explained Dr Hannah MacKechnie of Shropshire-based Radfield Home Care, and there’s nothing that defines a society more clearly than the way in which it cares for the most vulnerable, the elderly – and those that care for them.
“We recently formalised our existing commitment and launched an official ‘Caring for Carers’ Pledge to promote good practice across the care sector, and as a plea to other providers to make sure that they support their staff as well as possible.”
Radfield Home Care was recently shortlisted for a Business Award as part of the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s 2014 Awards, and won the Promoting Dignity and Respect Award at Shropshire Partners in Care – an awards ceremony which aims to recognise and celebrate care individuals and organisations across the region.
“At Radfield, we empower our staff to go above and beyond client expectations, and one of the ways we achieve this is by ensuring that our carers receive ample rates of pay that exceed the minimum wage *and* reflect travel time. We’re particularly proud of our team and their achievements, and are dedicated to supporting them not only during Good Care Week, but all year round too,” Hannah concluded.
