Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre, home to HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF) in Shrewsbury, will be opening it’s doors and welcoming members of the public along with local food and drink producers to a day full of tasting and tours at their facilities.
The event, taking place on Saturday, November 9, will be jam packed with cookery demonstrations held by both HEFF executive chef Danny Silcock and businesses which are members of the regional food group.
Danny said: “I’ll be doing a variety of presentations through the day, sharing tips on how to prepare simple but delicious dishes for entertaining. We’ll also be welcoming Christiana from Mukaase, a quality African-Caribbean food producer, who will be demonstrating how to make a South African curry.
“And just in time for those Christmas cake preparations, award-winning cake maker Ursula from My Cottage Kitchen will be letting visitors in on some of her secrets to baking the best festive fruitcake.”
Visitors are invited to take part in a tour of the purpose-built food production units, specifically inside one of the producer’s units – the Little Round Cake Co – taking place at 2pm.
The conference room at the centre will also become a base for tastings during the day, and HEFF is welcoming back Lara Gibson, from Petton Preserves, who will be celebrating her first anniversary having launched a year ago at the same event in 2012.
Other companies attending include Tipsy Tart with her unusual flavoured vodkas, Quartz Brewery, Revolver Coffee, and Netherton Foundry, which will be showcasing its Shropshire-made cast iron pans.
The TASTE Kitchen and the Local Food Store, which stocks locally produced food and drink will be open to all from 10am to 4pm, giving shoppers the chance to stock up for Christmas. Foodie gifts will be available to buy, and shoppers can pick up a Wenlock Hamper, which come ready-packed or can be filled with your own choice of locally produced food and drink from the extensive range in store.
