Shrewsbury Flower Show to welcome back Red Hot Chilli Pipers

The organisers of the Shrewsbury Flower Show have announced that Quarry Park will be rocking to the sound of bagpipes on Saturday 13 August next year, as the world renowned band, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers hit the stage for the final night of the show, having performed at the 2014 Flower Show.

Since they walked away with the top prize on UK primetime TV talent show, ‘When Will I Be Famous’ in 2007, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers haven’t stopped for a breath, other than to inflate their bagpipes!

Formed in 2002, The Chillis have become a global phenomenon, taking their signature ‘Bagrock’ sound to the masses and rocking far-flung shores from New York to Beijing and everywhere in between with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres!

It has been an amazing two years it has been for the Red Hot Chilli Pipers since they last rocked The Shrewsbury Flower Show with sell out tours of the USA – (coast to coast) – Germany and China. Their cover of Avicci’s track ‘Wake Me Up’ which they played live for Nick Grimshaw on the Radio One Breakfast Show has gone viral worldwide with almost 3 million YouTube views and it’s also been quite a busy time on the sporting front. The guys had the honour of playing at the opening ceremony of the Ryder Cup and also the National Anthem for the Scottish Football Team and supporters at Hampden Park for their crucial European international match against Germany. Next it was playing Andy Murray and the GB Davies Cup Team onto the court for their semi final against Australia at the Emirates Arena and Glasgow and finally playing for the Scottish Rugby Team and supporters during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Simon Badrock, Shropshire Horticultural Society Secretary said ‘We are very lucky to have the The Red Hot Chilli Pipers entertaining the crowds again next year. The final night of the Show has a reputation for having a wonderful atmosphere and great entertainment and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers most certainly put on a show guaranteed to amaze any audience. They are a genuinely unique experience’

The band’s latest DVD release ‘Live at the Lake’ was filmed in Milwaukee in the summer at one of the biggest Celtic festivals in the world in front of a huge audience and has already reached platinum status for sales worldwide. The Chilli machine just keeps rolling and the shows just keep getting hotter and hotter. There is no corner of the planet that hasn’t felt the Chilli heat. In August 2016 it will be time for the people of Shrewsbury to get closer to the fire!
