Caroline Butters, 66, couldn’t believe it when People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador and rugby legend Scott Quinnell presented her with her big cheque. “When Scott pulled out the cheque, I immediately started to cry. It was wonderful,” she said.

Grandmother Caroline was more shocked that she had won money after such a short time playing. “I can’t believe I’ve won when I only signed up to play a couple of weeks ago,” she said. “I had seen People’s Postcode Lottery advertised and thought I’d give it a go to support charities. It’s great to be giving and winning!”

Caroline will be using her winnings on a family trip, as well as donating some to good causes. “My husband Peter and his twin brother Michael turn 70 on Christmas Eve so both families are traveling to Center Parcs to celebrate,” said Caroline.

“There will be 17 of us altogether and now I can treat the family with our winnings. I also organise lunches for AidsUK and I’m planning on bringing some champagne as a surprise for the next one. We do a lot in the village and we will give some money to the church.”

Scott Quinnell was delighted to be the bearer of good news in Loppington, saying, “Caroline burst into tears when she saw the amount she won, bless her. It was really nice meeting her and her husband, Peter. I hope they have a fantastic time celebrating with their family.”
