Shrewsbury High School is celebrating after being nominated for three national education awards at the Education Business Awards 2016.

In a letter to parents, Headmaster Michael Getty detailed the nominations: “Our first shortlisting is in the field of technology, and is for ‘Best ICT Initiative’, for our Computing Robotics programme, that we deliver across Seniors and Prep, and with local Junior Schools.

Our second shortlisting recognises our work to prepare applicants for Medicine and related courses such as Dentistry, which we also extend to local maintained schools. Our Bio-Med Programme and Annual Conference, which we run in conjunction with Keele University’s Medical School, is nominated for Best Education Community project. Finally, we are also exceptionally proud to be shortlisted overall, in the overarching category ‘Outstanding School Progress Award – Independent Sector’, for our whole school advances and strategic development.

These shortlistings are a wonderful testimony to the contributions of our dedicated staff and our hardworking pupils, and also recognise the support of two of our school Governors, Jean Lamont and Professor Shaughn O’Brien, who have a special interest in our Technology and Bio-Med initiatives”.

Shrewsbury High School won the Sports Awards at last year’s ceremony for its outstanding sports provision and facilities. This year’s Awards Ceremony will be held at The Grange Hotel, near St Paul’s, London, on the Wednesday 13th July.
